Finally a 3rd glaze!

I've finally managed to get the gannets themselves glazed.

I feel it is starting to take shape, and so I'm being patient

I'll do some more on Bank Holiday Monday...if the painting has dryed!

Sweet Nothings second colour glaze

This is the second glaze, still have not done much to the
birds, just colouring the eye a little.

Warmed up the colours of the sky & lightened the sea a little.

Just have to wait another week tillit dries and I have time to continue..

Sweet Nothings

In earlier posts I said I'd post my oil painting as it progressed. Well I'm not doing as well as I'd hoped it has been a little time, but here is the first colour glaze.

I've come to the conclusion it should be called "Sweet Nothings" as in whispering sweet nothings in my ear.

The canvas is 30cm wide by 80cms tall, perhaps a shade too big for a first oil?

I'm using a technique from an article on WetCanvas (link below).

Very good explanation on glazing in oils, any technical issues in this painting are due to my inadequacies not the article ;-)
